Todd Boehly plots shock Sadio Mane transfer swoop after Mauricio Pochettino's Chelsea order
Sadio Mane is set to leave Bayern Munich after just one season after a recent bust-up with team-mate Leroy Sane as clubs across Europe register transfer interest in the ex-Liverpool star
Chelsea is preparing a summer transfer push for Sadio Mane of Bayern Munich. The Argentine has instructed Todd Boehly to pursue a deal for the former Liverpool player, and the Blues are poised to hire Mauricio Pochettino as their new head coach.
Mane spent six years at Anfield and is regarded as a Liverpool legend after competing in every club competition while playing for the Merseyside team. The Senegal international left Liverpool to go with Bayern last summer, but the 31-year-old's career has not gone as planned, especially after a recent altercation with his teammate Leroy Sane following their Champions League quarterfinal first-leg loss to Manchester City..
With only 12 goals and five assists in 36 games during his rookie season, the German powerhouses are willing to sell Mane. Given his connection to Jurgen Klopp's team, it's uncertain if the Senegalese attacker would be willing to join a Premier League opponent of Liverpool again, but Pochettino is rumored to have instructed the Blues to explore a transfer for Mane.
Prior to the summer transfer window, the 51-year-old is still in discussions to become Chelsea's next head coach and has already established a number of requirements. According to reports, Bayern Munich is willing to sell Mane, and a proposal of £30 million would be sufficient to close the deal.
If Pochettino is hired as the Blues' manager, he wants to add a new goalkeeper, central midfielder, and striker. If Chelsea and Bayern can reach an agreement, Mane, who has experience playing as a No. 9, might be a valuable asset for them next season.
In 2014, Pochettino departed Southampton four months before Mane arrived at St. Mary's Stadium, but the pair may finally collaborate at Stamford Bridge next season.
