Duffour is not as influential as Mahama - Gbande
The Deputy Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mustapha Gbande, has warned that the party's Executive Committee (FEC) will not stand aside to ensure the integrity of the people. one is attacking the media team of the former Prime Minister. Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffour.
He warned that "We have our integrity to protect, and we will not allow the image of the national party leaders to be dragged through the mud." Mr Gbande's comments come after Dr Duffuor called on the party's leadership to postpone the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections this weekend, May 13, 2023.
According to him, this is theresult of some discrepancies in the electoral registration of the party. In a letter to the Secretary General of the NDC, Dr. Duffuor complained that the register was incomplete and inaccurate for voting purposes.
Responding to Dr Duffour'sletter on the postponement of the election, Mr Gbande said Dr Duffour's party was raising red flags when there were none. Speaking on the morning showGhana Yensom hosted by Odeyeeba Kofi Essuman on Accra 100.5 FM on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, Mr. Gbande said that all the runners were given about two months of training.
"If you don't know the representatives, how do you campaign?" he asked. He said that so far, 240 regional music albums have been taken from Dr. Duffour.
"They will be given to others today," he assured, wondering, "Is this a case where Dr.Duffour wants to be treated as the first president?"
He said it would be a mistake ifthe former finance minister and his party thought they were as influential as President John Mahama. "Dr. Duffour must be told that he has never been there and that he cannot have any influence as a former president," said Mr. Gbande said.
He said that Dr. Duffour wasnot with the former president. He warned that the position of a few people in the party conspired to keep the party opposed to the previous election and will not accept the current party leaders.
