Kobina Tahir Hammond, the minister of trade and industry, has stressed the government's determination to use the YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project to create a strong entrepreneurship regime that can foster and hasten the growth of the economy.
He said that as part of attempts to address the high youth unemployment rate in the nation, the government has now turned its focus through the YouStart program towards the development of indigenous businesses.
While touring a few YouStart training facilities in Accra yesterday, Mr. Hammond said that the government will be able to fulfill its promise to create one million jobs in three years given the interventions made under the YouStart program.

Yesterday, official training for the YouStart Ghana Jobs and Skills Project's component 2.1 began in 188 districts across the nation.
The project, which has 50,000 young people as its target audience, aims to give entrepreneurial training and competitive start-up awards to young people who have the capacity to launch a firm.
The three-month program is designed to give participants the knowledge, resources, and financial assistance they need to launch and expand their enterprises.
The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) is carrying out the project with financial and technical assistance of GH400 million from the World Bank.
Mr. Hammond pointed out that the initiative was seen as a significant step and a way to improve the country's workforce, produce more employment of higher quality, and help young people find jobs.
"For this reason, I would like to express my gratitude to the World Bank Group, particularly for providing the Government of Ghana (GoG) with financial and technical assistance for the Ghana Jobs and Skills Project."
