Manchester United have eliminated a League Two prodigy in a move that could upset Gary Neville.

United are on the decline at a crucial stage of the season, following successive defeats to Brighton and West Ham last week.

In turn, the club's Champions League hopes seem more precarious than seven days ago. The Old Trafford team is ranked 4th on the table, 1 point more than Liverpool but played less than 1 match.

However, Erik ten Hag's men are also eyeing the summer transfer window. United have been said to prioritize signing a new striker, while the club also want a new midfielder, centre-back and right-back.

And while United have been linked with big money deals for Harry Kane, Victor Osimhen and Jeremie Frimpong, they are also looking further in the English pyramid.

Man Utd put Salford star on trial

According to The Sun, United have attacked Salford to buy Kelly N'Mai, with the Dutch winger facing a week-long trial last month.

The 19-year-old, who has made 11 appearances for the League Two side, was featured in United's Under-21 clash with Leicester City last Friday.

N'Mai committed his future to Salford in 2021 after being signed a year earlier. However, the Ligue 2 club, which is partly owned by Gary Neville, are believed to not stand in the way of the youngster should United's development side decide to sign the Dutchman.

Erik ten Hag's side are expected to pay Salford compensation if they want to let the youngster go for good.

Meanwhile, Neville was at the center of the celebration as Salford reached the play-offs of League Two on goal difference. The club, beaten 1–0 by Gillingham on the final day, finished the season with 75 points alongside Mansfield.
