Premier League giants Arsenal are said to be close to reaching an agreement for Real Sociedad midfielder and Barcelona target Martin Zubimendi.
According to Spanish newspaper Diario AS, the Gunners are interested in signing 24-year-old Sociedad midfielder Zubimendi during the summer transfer window. The Gunners currently lack options in this position and could accept a talented player like Zubimendi. It is reported that the Gunners have contacted Zubimendi's agent and are now close to reaching an agreement with the midfielder.
Besides, it is reported that Barcelona, ??the team that has long been linked with Zubimendi, has withdrawn from this move due to their complicated economic situation. Renowned Spanish journalist Gerard Romero has claimed that the Blaugrana have now kept an eye on Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
"A new pivot is Barca's top priority this summer, given the possibility that Busquets will leave," said Romero (via BarcaTimes).
“Amrabat is the FIRST and VALID choice. Xavi loves Zubimendi, but his signature is out of reach for the club.
As with Zubimendi, Arsenal have been linked with a move to Declan Rice from West Ham United (via Sky Sports). However, Arsenal may be reluctant to meet West Ham United's astronomical £120m valuation for the Englishman. Zubimendi, who is valued at £34.80m by Transfermarkt, could prove a more economical option.
Arsenal target Ferran Torres doesn't want to leave Barcelona
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Ferran Torres is one of the players that Barcelona want to sell this summer for money and to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations. Premier League teams Arsenal and Aston Villa are said to be interested in securing the winger's services (via talkSPORT).
However, there is information that this player does not want to leave the Camp Nou in the upcoming transfer window. The winger is out of contract in June 2027, and despite not being able to play regularly under Xavi, he is eager to prove himself at Barcelona. The Spaniard is keen to have a favorable pre-season this summer and try to play more in the 2023-24 campaign. The former Manchester City striker has scored four goals in 29 La Liga appearances this season. Out of those 29 matches, he only started 13.
