Cardiff will sue Nantes for transfer damages after Sala's death

Cardiff City are preparing to take further legal action against Nantes after the Swiss Federal Court ruled that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) did not have jurisdiction to heartheir claim for damages for the transfer of Emiliano Sala, the club announced on Tuesday. .

Sala's
plane crashed in the English Channel, killing him andthe pilot, while on his way to Cardiff after signing for €17million from Ligue 1 in January 2019. FIFA ordered Cardiff to pay the first installment of the transfer fee agreed before Sala's death, amounting to €6m, and placed them under a transfer ban in December when they failed to pay the amount.

After Cardiff's
appeal to CAS failed, they paid the moneyafter which Fifa lifted the ban, but the Welsh club appealed to the Swiss Federal Court. "TheSwiss federal court has ruledthat the Court of Arbitration forSport has no jurisdiction to hearCardiff City's claim for damages against FC Nantes," the Welsh club said in a statement.

"It is not surprising that
the club has already prepared various legal documents against them which will be done immediately because FC Nantes must be responsible for the accident (sic) (the plane crashed) organized by its representative. "It will be to recover what the company paid for Emiliano and additional damages for other subsequent losses."

Cardiff were relegated at the end of the 2018-19 season after finishing 18th and have not regained promotion to the top flight since.
