Legendary Asante Kotoko player Eric Bekoe has admitted that Hearts of Oak great Ishmael Addo was one of his footballing heroes while he was trying to break through.

Addo, who shares the record for the most goals scored in a single Ghana top-flight season with Yaw Annor (22 goals), earned the Ghana Premier League top scorer award three times in a row.

One of the greatest goal scorers to ever compete in the Ghana Premier League is Addo.

Bekoe claimed that he called Addo for advice when he was a budding artist and spoke about how he sought inspiration from him.

He admitted to Joy Sports that despite being a legend of Hearts of Oak, "Ishmael Addo is one of my idols."

"He was an idol to me, and I would call him frequently to inquire about his methods of success. He provided me all of his training regimens, his training methods, and other information, and it has shaped who I am now.

"Ishmael is the shy type, but when you get really close to him, he is a very outgoing person."

"I also want to thank the staff and unsung heroes who work behind the scenes, such Lynne and Jayne, our receptionists; Paul and Sophie in the kitchen; and Sue, Luke Bish, and Claire, who have been with us for a long time and are the foundation of the club.
"During this incredibly difficult season, but most importantly to the supporters, coaching staff, and my teammates for helping me and supporting me on and off the pitch throughout the season realize the goal and ambition I had when I first entered the doors at Hogwood as a 13-year-old," the player wrote.

"I'm glad for the opportunity to play for such a prestigious club that has a long tradition of providing young players from its academy a shot in the first squad, but I know and have faith that this unique organization will return. Many blessings to you, Royals.
