I hope the upcoming Champions League is more successful.
The first season of Robert Lewandowski's career at Barcelona is about to come to an end. He came so close to winning La Liga and will be looking for better results in the Champions League the following year.
With the La Liga championship and the Spanish Super Cup under their belts, Barcelona's season is set to come to a conclusion. But the Champions League still has a sour flavor for the "Cule" team.
At the Laureus Awards, Robert Lewandowski spoke to 'Ran.de' on his move to Barcelona and the Bundesliga race between his former German rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
"I'm extremely content to be in Barcelona. We stand a decent possibility of taking home the La Liga trophy, which would be huge for the team. We are moving in the right direction, but it's still a process, the Polish striker remarked.
He continued, "it would be very important for the club and for the team" in reference to winning the league. "We have a lot of young players who haven't taken home any notable championships; for them, this may be the next phase of their growth. Additionally, the fact that it is a different championship in a different nation is significant to me. I am quite pleased with how things are going in Barcelona. Despite the issues we have had at the club, we have a lot of potential, he continued.
The Champions League was another subject covered: "We would have been more prepared than before the international break if we had played the group stage three months later. I'm hoping the upcoming season is better. It was still too early in the season's first half. At the moment, playing against Bayern was really exhilarating and too challenging for me.
It would probably be a little simpler now.The other team will be the German champions if one of the two teams makes a mistake now. I believe Bayern is moving in the right direction. Of course, a number of choices made in the previous few weeks could have had an impact on the team. I believe Bayern is somewhat in front. Regarding the Bayern-Borussia Bundesliga matchup, Lewandowski said, "I'm always with Bayern and I'll cross my fingers that the boys win the title.
