Smooth sailing: 19 politicians set for victory in NDC primaries 


As the opposition DemocraticNational Congress prepares for the presidential and parliamentary elections on May 13, 2023, some candidates have little or nothing to fear in terms of competition.

These are the ones who will surely win their victory as they are running without a doubt, but it is hoped that the winners will be announced instead of the only contenders. GhanaWeb lists some of the contenders who have the potential to win Saturday's tournament: 

Haruna Ididrisu 

The
 current minority leader in Ghana's parliament, Haruna Iddrisu will be preparing for a sixth consecutive term in parliament as he joins the racefor the NDC parliamentary ticket for Tamale South Constituency ahead of the 2024 general elections. 

With a rich history and political influence gained from his long years with the NDC in Parliament, Haruna is expected to fend off competition from his only candidate, Bawa Abdul Fatawu, on Saturday. For a member of parliament who has spent almost 19 years in parliament, he is one of the few people who support their victory in the parliamentary elections of their party. 

Clement Apaak 

Dr.
 Clement Apaak is currently serving his second term as MPfor Builsa South and Upper East Region. His participation in the NDC primaries was unopposed. 

Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba 

Lydia Akanvariba is one of thefew people who will beguaranteed victory in the upcoming NDC primaries. He is the first MP representing the people of Tempane in the Upper East Region and is running unopposed. 

Isaac looked 

Incumbent Bolgatanga Central chief Isaac Adongo is unopposed in Saturday'sprimaries. He is a second-term Member of Parliament and is seeking a third term to represent the region.



Murtala Mohammed Ibrahim 

Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed is seeking a third term as Tamale Central Member of Parliamentafter returning home in 2020 after losing the seat after his first term. He is unopposed in subsequent primaries. 

Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini 

Tamale North Member of Parliament Alhassan Sayibu Suhuyini is running unopposed in the party's general election on Saturday. He is currently serving two consecutive termsas a Member of Parliament inthe area. 

Daniel Nsala Wakpal 

Daniel Wakpal is the Member of Parliament representingKpandai constituency. The former MP is seeking to extend his term in Parliament and has agreed with the NDCparliamentary ticket to enterthe contest unopposed. 

Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui 

He
 will be worried about the 2024 elections as he conteststhe NDC coming unopposed. Hewon the first Awutu West regional seat in 2020 and is seeking a second term. 

Cassiel Ato Forson 

Former Deputy Minister ofFinance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is the current leader of the NDC. The president of the present is the fourth time and taking place without opposition and the tickets ofthe full number of years.


Daniel Ohene Darko 

Daniel Ohene Darko is a Member of Parliament runningfor Denkyira West Constituency. 

The MP's first speech was unquestionably contested bythe NDC. Emilia Ankomah 

The former local councilor
 for Denkyira East, Emilia Ankomah is again trying to enterparliament where she has failed more than once. 

The former MCE is the NDCparliamentary candidate for Upper Denkyira East in 2016 and 2020 and will go into the party contest unopposed. Nureen Shaibu Migyimah 

Shaibu Nurien has received a free license to contest the 2024 parliamentary elections on the NDC ticket in every constituency ruled by the New Patriotic Party. 

The Assin Central seat has been under the belt of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who is now preparing to run for the presidency of the NPP, for five consecutive parliamentary terms. Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah 

Ellembelle Senator
 Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah is contestingthe NDC election uncontested. 

The Deputy Minority Leader is currently in his fourth term in Parliament and hopes to extend it to a fifth. Robert Wisdom Cudjoe 

Robert Wisdom Cudjoe is thefirst Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley Constituency. 

He gets a free pass in anotherNDC tournament with no opponent to face. Isaac Adjei Mensah 

Isaac Adjei Mensah was elected Member of Parliament for Wassa East Constituency three times in a row on the NDC list. 

He will be unopposed on Saturday. Eric Afful 

Eric Afful has been in Parliament on the NDC ticket since 2012 and is looking to extend his stay to 2024. 

He will run unopposed for the Amenfi West parliamentary ticket of the NDC. DrEmmanuel Okumi Andoh 

Dr.
 Emmanuel Okumi Andoh is running for the Ahanta West parliamentary seat on the NDCticket in 2020. 

He is trying again after winningthe 2020 general election. His intention to be the candidate ofthe NDC is clear. 

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa 

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa isone of the youngest members ofthe Ghanaian Parliament in 2012. After three terms, the current elected MP will go tothe 2023 NDC parliamentary elections in North Tongu constituency uncontested. 

Charles Agbeve 

Charles Agebve is the second vice president for Agotime-Ziope region in the Volta region.

Likely
 to serve his third term in parliament, his nomination to represent the NDC is uncontested. Ashanti region 

In Ashanti region, a stronghold of the New Patriotic Party, many will run unopposed in Saturday's parliamentary elections. 

Their constituencies are oftenNPP reserve seats, limiting their chances in the general elections. The unconfirmedcandidates are Samuel Aboagye who will contest for Obuasi East governorship, Joseph Azumah for Akrofuom and Samuel Prempeh Jnr for Bekwai. 

Others
 are Kwasi Amankwah who will contest for Kumawu governorship, Shamudeen Mohammed Kamil for Old Tafo and Hamzah Swallah forManhyia North.
