Atletico Madrid annoyed with Joao Felix transfer situation at Chelsea

Atletico Madrid is reportedly annoyed with how Joao Felix's time at Chelsea has gone, and his expected return to the Spanish capital once his loan at Stamford Bridge ends in the summer. Felix moved from Atletico to Chelsea in January, but his unconvincing form in his time in English football means that the Blues are unlikely to make his loan move permanent. Atletico is annoyed by the situation, as they feel that this loan has not worked out for them at all, and they are now likely to struggle to find a buyer for Felix.

The 23-year-old may still have time to turn things around, but he has not managed to settle since his move from Benfica to Madrid, and his loan at Chelsea hasn't helped him either. It's not surprising to see the La Liga giants frustrated by this situation, as they were surely hoping Felix's value would rise during this spell in the Premier League, but if anything, it has probably only continued to decrease.

The imminent appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager could help finalise talks over a new contract for N'Golo Kante, according to the Daily Telegraph. Both Kante and Pochettino have reportedly shared a mutual desire to work with one another for some time, and Kante is out of contract at Stamford Bridge next month. Talks over an extension are already underway, and the arrival of Pochettino could be what prompts Kante to put pen-to-paper on the dotted line.

Despite being plagued by injuries this season, Kante made his return to the squad last month and has started seven of the last nine matches in all competitions. Chelsea has been in the market for a new manager for almost six weeks now, and former Spurs boss Pochettino looks as though he will be the chosen one, beating the likes of Julien Naglesmann and Luis Enrique to the post.

Felix has struggled to make an impact since moving to Chelsea on loan from Atletico Madrid. He has only managed to score two goals and provide one assist in 14 appearances across all competitions for the Blues. Chelsea, who have been linked with a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, are unlikely to take up the option to sign Felix permanently this summer.

On the other hand, Atletico Madrid is in dire need of a goal scorer, having lost the La Liga title to their city rivals Real Madrid. They have also failed to progress past the Round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League for the past two seasons, and they see Felix as a potential solution to their scoring woes. Atletico Madrid's coach, Diego Simeone, believes that Felix has what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and he wants the player to return to the club next season.

However, Atletico Madrid's financial situation may prevent them from making a move for Felix. The club's finances have been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic, and they may not have enough funds to meet Chelsea's asking price for the Portuguese forward. Atletico Madrid may have to look for other options to bolster their attack, as they look to bounce back from a disappointing season.
