Lawyer vs doctor: Bothcandidates battle for Nabdam constituency in NDC primaries 


The opposition National Democratic Congress will go to the polls on Saturday, May 13, 2023 to elect a flag bearer in parliament ahead of the 2024 general elections.

Nabdam constituency
 in the Upper East region is one of the constituencies where the legislative elections areexpected to be hot. The competition will be between three people; Lamtiig Apanga, a private legal practitioner, Dr Mark Nawaane, a ruling MP, and Francis Zuure. 

However,
 the first two are considered as contenders for the championship. The outgoing deputy, who is a practicing physician, faces stiff competition from managerPrestige Partners.

Dr
 Mark Nawaane, 57, is thesecond representative for the Nabdam region. He was first elected to parliament in 2016 and was re-elected in 2020. 

His third attempt begins in the upcoming primaries where the former CEO of S Mark Hospital Group will face opposition fromhis closest competitor. LamtiigApanga 


With years of experience in legal practice, young Lamtiig Apanga is hoping to win the Nabdam NDC parliamentary race against an older MP. 

Advocate Apanga,
 managing partner of Prestige Partners law firm in Accra, practices law with interests in business, real estate and criminal courts. He was the first candidate in theparliamentary race who promised to bring high-levelideas to promote the development of Nabdam regionwhen he was elected as MP. 

Being a pioneer
 in manydevelopment projects in the region, Advocate Apanga is responsible for the construction of five wells and provided equipment for thehealth center in Nabdam. In the eyes of the NDC, Mr. Apanga is a prominent member of the party who has been an important part of the party's constitution and has represented the party in court in various courts.

According to the Ghana Times,Mr Apanga who draws his strength and support from Zoliba and Sakoti blocs, whohave 31 of the total 50 votes in the constituency, is in a position to win. Saturday competition.
