After receiving a yellow card for his enraged outburst during Real Madrid's tie with Manchester City, Carlo Ancelotti communicated his displeasure with the referee.
After neither team could find a winner on Tuesday, with Kevin De Bruyne's well-placed equalizer canceling out Vinicius Jr.'s first-half thunderbolt, Real will attempt to earn a position in the Champions League final in the return leg at the Etihad.
Shortly after the hour mark, De Bruyne gained control on the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a powerful drive beyond Thibaut Courtois. However, disagreement ensued as the hosts argued that the ball had already left the field of play.
Bernardo Silva was seen in footage controlling the ball on the right flank while making a touch right at the touchline. Even though City's move was permitted to continue, Ancelotti instantly raised his arms at the edge of his technical area.
Ancelotti was furious when Jack Grealish and Ilkay Gundogan worked together to set up De Bruyne. Artur Dias, an official, then booked the manager.
Ancelotti told BT Sport that he was perplexed by the warning and added, "I don't know why." "I was not on the pitch, why did you give me [the card]?" I questioned the referee.
"I believe the player, not the manager, should receive the yellow card," the speaker said.
Following City's contentious goal, the sports network beIN SPORTS released a 'exclusive' photograph that claimed the ball had actually left the field of play prior to Silva's touch back inside.
A 3D image was produced using many TV camera angles, although it is not final or official. Arsene Wenger, a former manager of Arsenal, questioned whether the officials had access to technology that could provide clear evidence in either direction.
The question of whether to go [to the VAR] is normal here. Wenger stated on beIN SPORTS that the VAR "normally should check if the goal is regular or not."
"In that kind of circumstance, they have to step in."
They either did not have the capability to check to see if the ball was out or they did not travel back far enough to do so.
Both teams scored against the flow of play during the battle at the Bernabeu, with City controlling possession for the majority of the match. Although the semi-final match is still very close, Ancelotti was upbeat when discussing the upcoming second leg.
He remarked, "Defensively we were good, [Antonio] Rudiger did really well against [Erling] Haaland." "The midfield adequately covered the area in front of the defense."
"We are content. Sometimes your performance was excellent but the outcome didn't reflect that. We are content and really motivated going into the next game.
