Sergio Busquets, the club's captain, has informed Barcelona that he will depart at the conclusion of the 2022–23 campaign.
Busquets has remained one of Barça's most reliable players at the age of 34, and this weekend against city rivals Espanyol, they have a chance to win their first La Liga championship.
Busquets will leave the club this summer, Barcelona said on Wednesday morning, thus this title will be his final for the organization.
Busquets told club outlets, "Wearing this badge has been an honor, a pull, and a source of pride, but everything must come to an end.
"The choice wasn't simple, but the moment has arrived. Thank you to [club] members and supporters as well as everyone who has traveled with me.
Busquets is reportedly interested in signing a lucrative contract with a team in Saudi Arabia, however Inter Miami of the Major League Soccer is also reportedly interested.
Only former colleagues Lionel Messi and Xavi have more appearances for Barcelona (719) than Busquets.
If Barça wins La Liga, he will have amassed an incredible 32 major victories for his old team.
Busquets' final match at Camp Nou will be against Mallorca on May 28. On June 4, he will play his final match for Barcelona away at Celta Vigo.
After 18 years at Barcelona, midfielder Sergio Busquets will depart the team this summer.
The 34-year-old made his first-team debut for the Catalans in 2008 after joining the youth team in 2005, but he has since decided to leave after declining an offer of a new deal with less favorable terms.
In a video farewell, he declared, "The time has come to announce that this will be my last season with Barca."
"The journey has been one I will never forget. I've always wanted to play in this uniform and in this venue, and reality has surpassed all of my expectations.
Sergio Busquets' impending departure from Barcelona has been confirmed.
