Liverpool target, Manuel Ugarte watch the game

Liverpool are ready to make offers for Sporting Lisbon duo Goncalo Inacio and Manuel Ugarte ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports.

The Reds ended the season in good form after a disappointing campaign as Jurgen Klopp's men broke into the top four after six Premier League wins following their recovery.

Liverpool are currently just one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United, who have fewer games against the Reds, and Klopp will hope they can secure Champions League spots to cover summer expenses.

Many of their problems this season have been attributed to midfield and improving that area of ??the team has become a priority for Klopp this summer, along with the search for a new centre-back.

And Liverpool are said to be looking specifically to Sporting Lisbon for inspiration with reports indicating they are interested in midfielder Ugarte and defender Inacio. Portuguese newspaper Record claim Liverpool are ready to bid for Ugarte with the highly-rated Uruguay international at the top of their midfield roster.

Ugarte is said to have been on Klopp's radar for some time, with Liverpool now deciding that they will soon make their first concrete offer.

Despite mentioning his €60m release clause, the report does not specify the amount for which Liverpool will initiate the bidding process.

As Spanish publication Fichajes insists Liverpool are 'also looking at signing' Inacio as the centre-back continues to 'hoard pursuers'.

And the Merseysiders are 'ready to make an offer of close to' 50 million euros, with Inacio becoming 'one of the most promising defenders in European football'. The 21-year-old is 'an attractive option' for Liverpool as he can play at both centre-back and right-back, with Klopp considering 'a major restructuring' of his side.

Fichajes added that Liverpool are ready to "pay the price now" but are "not the only team interested" in Inacio, with Paris Saint-Germain and Newcastle United both considered potential destinations.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for former striker Sadio Mane - who is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer - but former Reds star John Barnes has urged the club to let the Senegal international leave.

Barnes told MyBettingSites:

“We have to focus on midfield. There is no reason to go back to Mane when you have so many attacking players. "I love Sadio and he's one of my favorite players, but when we have Salah, Jota, Nunez, Gakpo and Diaz, we have to prioritize the midfield next season."
