Newcastle United, who are currently in third position, are on their way to making the Champions League for the first time in more than 20 years. The Magpies, under Eddie Howe's leadership, have performed better than anticipated lately and have only suffered five league losses.
But as they develop their group under the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, major European clubs will be keeping an eye on their players.
Bruno Guimaraes is one of them; he was also one of the first players transferred to St. James Park after the new management took over. This season, the Brazilian has been among the greatest midfielders in the Premier League and is already luring numerous suitors.
Barcelona is one of the teams interested in signing Guimaraes in 2024, but they'll have to beat out Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.
All teams will, however, pursue Guimaraes in quite different ways. Liverpool might make a move for his signature as early as this summer and offer €100 million in exchange.
Given the likelihood that Jude Bellingham will sign with Real Madrid, Pool will try to intensify their pursuit of Guimaraes right away.
PSG, on the other hand, has glowing reviews about Guimaraes going all the way back to his time at Olympique Lyonnais. They'll be trying to sign the player to persuade Kylian Mbappe to support their athletic endeavor.
The French team is prepared to pay €125 million to get the 25-year-old in the hopes that he will be the final piece they need to win the Champions League.
Barcelona, on the other hand, wants to hold off on trying to sign him until 2024. The Catalans are looking to hire a defensive midfielder who can step in and take Sergio Busquets' place long-term as he will be departing the team at the end of the current campaign.
However, their financial position prevents them from adding any high-profile players this summer.
Although Newcastle is aware that teams will be around its star midfielder in the summer, they are not yet prepared to give up. They are aware that they can pay him just as much, if not more, and provide him the chance to play in the Champions League.
