According to sources, Rafael Leao and AC Milan have reached an agreement on conditions for a new long-term contract.

The contract for the Portuguese forward was set to expire at the conclusion of the 2023–24 season, and negotiations over a new one have been going on for quite some time.

Leao, according to 90min, has recently reached an agreement on a new five-year deal with San Siro, and the player's representation have informed all parties involved of the decision.

In the Todd Boehly era, Chelsea had long coveted Leao and had spent handsomely, while Manchester City had been closely monitoring his contract talks with Milan.

A legal dispute involving an unpaid transfer bill from former teams Lille and Sporting CP to the latter was ongoing, although it has since been resolved.

The new contract still contains a €150 million release provision for Leao.

Leao propelled Milan to their first Scudetto in almost ten years last season, solidifying his position as one of the top forwards in the world in recent years. He excelled and was given the MVP of Serie A.

Leao has been the team's bright spot during Milan's march to the Champions League semifinals, despite the fact that Milan failed to successfully defend their Serie A championship this season. His greatest accomplishment was setting up Olivier Giroud's game-winning goal during their quarterfinal second leg at Napoli with an exhilarating solo run.

Leao, Milan's standout player, has been in outstanding form lately. His solo effort against SSC Napoli in the quarterfinal second leg resulted in Olivier Giroud's game-tying goal at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, which helped Milan advance to their first European semi-final since 2007.

Leao's fitness for the match against Inter on Wednesday, however, is questionable since the forward left his team's 2-0 victory against Lazio after 11 minutes due to what appears to be a muscle issue.
