Asian champions China ready for World Cup pressure - boss 


China won their first title in 16 years by beating South Korea in the final of the 2022 Asian Women's Cup and captain Wang Shanshan said they now face the pressure of being theregional champions. and the World Cup.


Wang
 scored five goals to be named the best player of the Asian Games in February last year, as China beat the Koreans 3-2 in the final showing theprogress made in Chinese women's football over the years. "I think there is still pressure because the Asia Cup is a thing of the past and on the world stage, we will not onlyface Asian teams, but world teams," Wang told Fifa+ on Tuesday.
"So there's
 still a lot of pressure on us. Every team in the World Cup is tough and we will be ready for more challenges." 


China, who won the 1999 World Cup, are in Group D with England, Haiti and Denmark at this year's tournament which takes place in Australia and New Zealand from July 20 to August 20.


Nicknamed the Steel Roses, China has appeared in the World Cup seven times, finishing fourth in the 1995 edition and reaching the round of 16 in France in 2019. Wangsaid the team has been unitedunder coach Shui Qingxia since taking over in November 2021.
"Under Coach
 Shui, we play our own game," he added. "Thehope now is that we can show the spirit of Chinese women'sfootball and our strong approach at a higher level and on a bigger scale."
