Christian Eriksen has disclosed that while recuperating in the hospital the following day, he saw video of his on-field accident at Euro 2020.

In the opening game of Denmark's match at the competition in June 2021, Eriksen experienced a heart collapse and unexpectedly passed out on the field, shocking the sporting world.

The Dane was swiftly taken to the hospital while supporters across the world prayed for his recovery as his distraught teammates encircled him to block cameras from capturing their afflicted comrade.

Eriksen made a full recovery and was implanted with an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) device, which has not only allowed him to continue living but also to continue playing football, thanks to the quick action of Denmark's medical personnel and the life-saving procedure he received in the hospital.

He admitted to The Telegraph that he watched it almost immediately after it occurred "just to see what happened, get through all the emotions, and prepare myself for later."

But things never get any simpler. After watching it, you hardly give it any thought. All you need to do is give it a quick glance.

What I've discovered for myself is to simply enjoy yourself while you're here, take in everything that happens, and play football if it's enjoyable. And if it's not enjoyable, switch things up.

After regaining full health, Eriksen departed Inter Milan and signed a dramatic return to the sport with Brentford in January of last year due to Italian football rules prohibiting players from using ICD devices.

Less than two years after leaving Tottenham, the former Spurs star was given an emotional welcome return to English football. He went on to make 11 appearances for Thomas Frank's team as they finished in 13th position.

His strong play in the second half of the previous campaign led to a summer transfer to United, where he has made 39 appearances under Erik ten Hag.

Eriksen continued, "I had a very good time there, and I will always be grateful to Brentford and Thomas Frank for giving me the chance to come back." He was speaking about his initial return to the Premier League.
