The Manchester United youngster has played for Sunderland on loan this season three years after moving to Old Trafford.

Amad and Solskjaer two years ago

As you advance in senior football, compared to Lionel Messi by your captain and commanding £37m before your 19th birthday, it's fair to say you've set the bar high.

And now Amad is starting to turn promise and potential into consistency and quality as he looks to achieve his goals at Manchester United.

The winger enjoyed a stellar season on loan in the Championship with Sunderland. He featured in their playoff race, with the Black Cats facing Luton Town in the semi-finals at the weekend.

Under the guidance of experienced Tony Mowbray, Amad has grown through the seasons. At the start of the campaign, he moved to the Under-21 team as his manager and coaching staff sought to ease his corners.

In the second half of the campaign, he was virtually unstoppable and created buzz throughout Old Trafford before returning to his parent club in the summer.

"Fantastic talent," was Mowbray's verdict. "He was a pretty shy kid who never really came forward, he never looked and said why don't you do that, why don't I take the ball here, I should get more moreover, I just really told the team to try and bring it to Amad.

It's not a bad strategy for Sunderland and the young star is now hoping to fulfill his ambitions at Old Trafford, three years after joining Manchester. "I still haven't done my best for them," the teenager admitted earlier this season in an interview with Four Four Two. "But I hope next season I can come back and prove my talent. My dream is to play regularly at Manchester United."

He is sure to make Erik ten Hag think and while the player's talent on the pitch is obvious, his off-field journey since arriving in England is remarkable. It's not easy for young players.

He has only made three starts for United and last season joined Scottish giants Rangers on loan. He hasn't had the expected impact at Ibrox, capped at 13 appearances total and only 4 league starts. It was a difficult school for the teenager under Giovanni Van Bronckhorst.

"I think he has talent," said the Dutchman. "He came during the winter break, he had good times but also had bad times. But he continued to work hard."

It's a phrase that could be applied to most young players around the country, but Diallo's work ethic has never been questioned. He continued to strive to be the best and although his time in Glasgow could hardly be considered a success, the knowledge gained north of the border served him well as a family. entered Sunderland last summer.

Working under Mowbray, a company known for helping young people thrive, he's rounded his game and gone from being a perfectionist, movie and trickster player one player perfects the final product. Thirteen goals testify to this. A final at Wembley and promotion will end a fantastic season for the Ivory Coast international and help him compete for a spot in United's first team.

He may have to accept another loan, but he has now made 50 senior appearances and will turn 21 in July. It has come a long way from the rough with untapped potential bursting into the scene
