The former Chief of Army Staff of Ghana, Brigadier General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah, has warned that Ghana is headed for destruction because the anger of the citizens could lead to people taking over the government, although he not the best way to go.
According to the retired military officer, people are forced to rule because of anger against the system because no one makes a change unless something drivesthem into it. . Lamenting the economic situation, he said things are getting worse in the country, so the youth will rise up because the two main political parties - the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress - are group.
Speaking to Korku Lumor on the Class Morning Show on Class91.3FM on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, he pointed outthat forgiveness is ruining the nation but Ghana is slowlygetting there. Explaining what is triggering the coup, he said,“We are not running on thisroad [violent coup] with our eyes open. People like Rawlings who went this way, what madethem go this way. Someone will rise up and act on their own,anger will come and you can'tcontrol anger because what is happening now, you can't take it.
"I don't want to bring this country down at all. When we get there, we won't go back, Ghana will be finished. Look at Libya, look at Iraq, they won'tcome back, they're finished. They're gone, Sudan is going the same way, it's finished . I don'twant Ghana to go down that road, but if we are not careful,we will go down that road. We are not going with all our heartbut anger will get us there,” he said. The octogenarian enthused, "NPP and NDC are one."
"Rawlings thought he could change Ghana before he died but he couldn't change it and it'sa painful pain and I don't know why," he expressed his frustration before rightfully asking, " You should kill people or kill people before they listen. you?
Brigadier General Nunoo-Mensah, who said he has lived in the UK, Russia, Canada, Ukraine and Russia, wondered why youths were queuing up at the US Embassy for visas when Ghana is a country known for better.
"Ghana is a beautiful place but let's build it...all our politicians should be ashamed of themselves and the youth will stand up," he said.
