The 21 games without a loss for Pep Guardiola's team indicate that they are peaking at the right time.
The draw between Manchester City and Real Madrid in the Champions League extended their winning streak to 21 games.
With 17 victories and four draws since early February, Pep Guardiola's team is undefeated as they prepare for the finish of the season and a possible title treble.
The PA news agency examines their seemingly inexorable form in this picture.
The triple chase
City is vying for victory on three fronts, hoping to repeat the achievement accomplished by neighborhood rivals Manchester United in 1998–1999 by winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League in the same season.
With four games remaining to the Gunners' three, they have pulled within a point of longtime league leaders Arsenal thanks to 37 of the last 39 points available.
In that period, they have defeated their championship rivals twice, once at home (4 weeks ago) and once at the Emirates Stadium (3-1).
Unexpectedly, Nottingham Forest, who are in danger of being demoted, are the only team to defeat them throughout that span thanks to Chris Wood's late equalizer.
Their other victims include Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Southampton, Leicester, Fulham, West Ham, and Leeds; in those 13 games, 36 goals were scored and 10 were allowed.
Their three earlier Champions League matches ended in draws in the away legs, all of which ended 1-1 against RB Leipzig, Bayern Munich, and Real.
They defeated former City captain Vincent Kompany's Burnley 6-0 and two other Championship sides, Bristol City and Sheffield United, 3-0 in the FA Cup to set up a Manchester derby in the championship game. Leipzig was defeated 7-0 and Bayern was defeated 3-0 in the home legs against the two Bundesliga teams.
This type of performance in the final stretch is nothing new for City, who won the league title last season by a point over Liverpool after concluding with a 12-game undefeated run that included nine wins and also won their last 14 straight games to claim the 2018–19 crown as part of a domestic treble.
