Meet the 6 children of the pillars of the NDC in the running for parliamentary slots
The National Democratic Congress of the opposition is impatiently awaited on May 13, 2023, when he planned to elect a standard-bearer and parliamentary candidates before the general elections of 2024.
Throughout the country, several members of the party, including outgoing members of the current 8th Parliament, will require a re -election.
The contenders in the NDC primaries include some individuals who are following the footsteps of their parents as parliamentary representatives on the ticket of the party whiles others are known children of stalwarts of the party.
We profile five children of NDC stalwarts who are contesting in the partys 2023 parliamentary primaries below:
Dr Kwabena Duffuor Jnr
The Duffuors; Kwabena Duffuor and Kwabena Duffuor Jnr will both contesting in the NDCs primaries at different levels. While his father, a former finance minister, is running for the party's flag bearer position, Duffuor Jnr is running for the NDC MP for Sekyere Afram Plains Constituency in the Ashanti Region.
After following his father'sbanking and finance career, Duffuor Jnr also followed his father's political path. "I postedmy child to win the election and be MP. She has Ph.D. When he was 28 years of age now. He is more than ripe to lead the Constituency.
I am supporting him fully, no question about that. My son consulted me and I okayed him going for it. He has my support, Dr Duffuor said of his sons ambition in a recent interview with TV3. Duffuor Jnr is raisinghis uncle, Alex Adomako-Mensah, the current Member of Parliament for Sekyere Afram Plains.
Dr. Sebastian Spio-Garbrah
Dr. Sebastian Spio-Garbrah, as the son of NDC stalwart Dr.Ekwow Spio-Garbrah, who is running for the Essikado-Ketan constituency ticket.
Sebastian Spio-Garbrah is currently the Chair of The Canada-Africa Chamber of Business and Global Managing Director & Chief Frontier Markets Analyst at DaMina Advisors.
He is aiming for the seat currently occupied by the New Patriotic Partys flagbearer hopeful, Joe Ghartey. His father, a prominent NDC member who announced the party's status in 2006, held various positions under the previous NDC government.
Dr. Ekwow Spio-Garbrah has served as Minister of Communications, Minister of Education, Minister of Tradeand Industry and Ghana's Ambassador to the United States of America. He already made the chairman of the President.
Dr zanorer agyeman-rawlings
Dr. Zanorator Atyeman-Rawlings is a second representative for the people of the Korle Klottoy. Her late father, Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings, was a former president of Ghana and the founder of the NDC.

Betty Krosbi Mensah
Betty Krosbi Mensah, the current Member of Parliamentfor Afram Plains North is the daughter of Krosbi Mensah, the former Member of Parliament for the area.
Betty, who was first elected as an MP in 2016 and re-elected in 2020, is seeking a third term. Before she became a deputy,Mensah was the general manager of Best Pat Ghana Limited from the year 2013 to 2016. She was also the second assistant coordinator of the National Youth Employment from 2009 to 2013. Mensah also worked as the creative and development coordinator of the Ghana Cooperative Credit Union from 2003 to 2005.
In the current 8th parliament, he is a member of the Gender and Children Committee and the Health Committee.
CharlesAsiedu
Charles Asiedu a son of the current National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is in the race for the partys Tano South parliamentary slot.
His father, the longest serving general secretary of the NDC, is a colossus in Ghanas politics. Asiedu Nketiah served as Member of Parliament for Wenchi West Constituency between 1992 and 2004.
Charles, who served as the NDC coordinator for Ahafo area,believes he paid enough party fees to represent the NDC in parliament. He has a strong belief that he will win among the five contestants in the Tano South competition.
If successful, Charles will succeed Dr Hanna Bisiw who has been the NDC parliamentary candidate for the area since 2012.
Meredith Naakai Lamptey-Addy wants to follow in the footstepsof her father, David Lamptey.
Mr Lamptey between 1996 and 2000 was the MP for Korle Klottey on the NDC ticket. Meredith who immediately counted his father as his assistant during his tenure as CEO of Sidalco, Dominion Oil, Radio and TV XYX, will fight Dr Zanetor for the Korle Klottey NDC ticket.
He is currently serving as the official of the NDC, the National Business Development Committee, a member of the NDC National Welfare Committee, the Sports Committee and the Ga Dangme caucus. Meredith Naakai Lamptey Addy is also the Managing Director of Patmeco Ghana Limited, Game Idol Printing and Advertising and Worldwide Alliance Investment Limited, a real estate company owned by herself and her husband.
