Marc Guehi has reportedly been chosen by Manchester United to take Harry Maguire's spot.

Maguire, who lost favour under Erik ten Hag, has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Old Trafford this summer.

Only 14 Premier League appearances have been made by the 30-year-old for the Red Devils this year, with the majority of those coming off the bench.

After injuries to the first-choice centre back duo of Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, it appeared as though he would finally receive his chance.

Luke Shaw, a more conventional left-back, has been picked over Victor Lindelof, virtually guaranteeing Maguire's future at the team.

The Dutchman is eager to bring in another central defender this summer due to the numerous injuries to Ten Hag's back line and the upcoming departures of several players.

Crystal Palace's Guehi, who has excelled at Selhurst Park this season, has apparently been mentioned as a prospective signing.

This summer, Guehi has become a target for a few Premier League teams, including Arsenal and Tottenham.

Although Crystal Palace is reportedly unwilling to trade the 22-year-old, they are reportedly open to hearing bids for the young defender, according to the Daily Mail.

Although Guehi is under contract until 2026, the Eagles are anticipated to drive a hard bargain for him, giving Palace a good negotiation position.

United previously transacted business with the south London club when it acquired Aaron Wan-Bissaka in 2019. He was purchased for a total of £50 million.

And it appears that the club will request a comparable payment this time. Chelsea will additionally have the chance to match any bid.

When Guehi left Stamford Bridge for Crystal Palace in 2021, the Blues added a sell-on clause, which means they will receive 20% of any subsequent sales.

Additionally, both clubs could profit from a significant bidding battle this summer given the interest that seems to be rising in the player.
