Neymar urged to make shock Arsenal transfer over Chelsea and Newcastle amid PSG exit talk
Former Arsenal player Gilberto Silva has urged PSG star Neymar to consider a move to Arsenal in the upcoming summer transfer window. Neymar has been linked with a potential exit from PSG amid reports of discontent, with clubs such as Chelsea and Newcastle also showing interest in the Brazilian. However, Silva believes that Neymar would be a great addition to Arsenal's squad and wants to see the player make a shock move to the Gunners.
Arsenal are facing a crucial summer transfer window as they try to close the gap to Manchester City in terms of the quality and depth of their squad. While the emphasis has often been on signing young players with high potential, the recent signing of experienced midfielder Jorginho shows that Arsenal are also willing to go down the experienced route.
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's manager, has admitted that the transfer decisions he has to make are always tough, whether it's to recruit new players or make other decisions. He said, "Some players sometimes don't want to continue with us, some staff members. It's always tough, especially when you have good relationships with those individuals, but we are here to win. That's the purpose of everybody at the club."
Silva believes that Neymar would be a great addition to Arsenal's squad and wants to see the player make a shock move to the Gunners. He said, "The last few weeks at PSG have been very strange for Neymar. Seeing people go to his house; I don’t agree with this, fans are not allowed to go to a player’s house to protest. This can turn into a nightmare because it is dangerous and it is not nice. I hope it does not happen again with him or any other player."
He added, "Everyone knows the quality of Neymar, I don’t need to speak about his quality. I love the way he plays and I would love to see him at Arsenal instead of Newcastle because I love the boy as a player, but he also has a lot to contribute to football. He’s suffered some injury problems which have made life hard for him, but he has so much more to offer any football club."
Silva admits that fitting Neymar into Arsenal's squad would be a great task for Arteta, but he believes that the Brazilian has the potential to make a significant impact at the club. However, it remains to be seen whether Arsenal would be interested in signing Neymar, who is currently contracted to PSG.
