Dwight Yorke slams Erik ten Hag for record compared to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

Former Manchester United player and legend Dwight Yorke has criticized the performance of current United manager Erik ten Hag, pointing out that the Dutchman has lost more games in the Premier League this season than Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did in his two full seasons in charge. While United have improved on their league position this season compared to last, they are currently in a precarious position with regards to securing a top-four finish after suffering back-to-back defeats to Brighton and West Ham.

Despite having won the League Cup and being in the FA Cup final, United have not been able to mount a title challenge this season, having lost nine times in the league. Yorke argues that Ten Hag's results have not been good enough and that he should be held accountable for the team's performance. He points out that when you manage Manchester United, you are always scrutinized for little details and mistakes, with nowhere to hide.

Solskjaer, on the other hand, had a better record than Ten Hag in his full two seasons managing the club, according to Yorke. While there has been talk of progress made under Ten Hag, Yorke believes that the results this season have not been good enough, and that Ten Hag should be called out for this.

Yorke does acknowledge that United have made some progress this season, having reached the FA Cup final, won the Carabao Cup, and made it far in the Europa League. However, he argues that the team's recent defeats show that there is still a lot of work to be done at Old Trafford.

Despite having a one-point advantage over Liverpool in the race for the top four, United are facing pressure from their biggest rivals, with Liverpool breathing down their necks. Moreover, they are 19 points off league leaders Manchester City, a significant gap that they will need to close if they want to challenge for the title next season.

Looking ahead to the summer transfer window, United are expected to be busy, with Tottenham striker Harry Kane being one of the players linked with a move to the club. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to strengthen their squad sufficiently to mount a title challenge next season.

Overall, Yorke's comments highlight the pressure that managers at Manchester United face, with even small details and mistakes being scrutinized. While there has been some progress made under Ten Hag, the team's recent defeats and overall performance this season suggest that there is still much work to be done if they want to compete with the best teams in the league.
