Callum Wilson, a striker for Newcastle, made light of Liverpool's need to "relax" in the fight for Champions League football.

The Reds appear to be finishing their disappointing campaign on a high as they aim for a late push to place inside the top four.

Six victories in a row have put them back in the running for European football, which looked impossible just one month ago.

But for Jurgen Klopp's team to guarantee their spot in the competition for the following season, they must defeat either Manchester United or Newcastle.

They are only three points behind the Magpies and one point behind United, who are in fourth place. Importantly, both teams have a game still to play against Liverpool.
Wilson doesn't like being too near to the Merseyside team, though, as Newcastle hopes to play in the Champions League for the first time in more than 20 years.

Who said what?

On the BBC's Footballer's Football Podcast, Wilson made light of the situation, saying, "Liverpool need to unwind! A few weeks ago, I predicted a top-four finish, saying I could smell it. That smell is now gone. I have no idea where it went. I can't seem to find it!"
Newcastle's fate is still entirely in their own hands, but from now on until the end of the season, any mistakes might cost them dearly.

Wilson continued, saying that his team's weekend 2-0 loss to Arsenal demonstrated that they "still have a long way to go" and that they "need three wins out of four" before they can feel accomplished.

On Saturday, Eddie Howe's team travels to Elland Road to take on the Premier League's relegation-threatened Leeds. While Liverpool's match against Leicester two days later is a game that both teams must win.

Only time will tell how the competition for Champions League football ultimately shakes out, but at this point, every point counts.

Chelsea lose major Rafael Leao transfer leverage after AC Milan finally settle £17.5m dispute

Rafael Leao looked to be one of the most coveted players in the summer transfer window but an exit from AC Milan could now be off the cards amid interest from Chelsea

Chelsea appear to have lost significant leverage in the race to sign Rafael Leao this summer. The AC Milan star was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the summer but a move failed to materialise.

With the fee yet to be paid, it became a huge factor over his future. According to A Bola, as quoted by Football Italia, Chelsea pledged to pay the fine to Sporting if Leao left the Rossoneri this summer.

But, desperate to hold onto the forward's services, the fine has finally been settled. According to French publication RMC Sport, Lille have agreed to pay Sporting, with a remaining €1million (£872,000) being left to Leao.

The report states that Milan will then reimburse 90% of the fee the French side are paying. Lille have also reportedly been guaranteed a slice of the profit on a future transfer of Leao, who has a €100million (£87.2million) release clause - though reports from Gazzetta dello Sport claim a release clause in his new contract could be worth around €170million (£148.3million).

"I think the stage is set for someone like him to step out from the crowd and take that spotlight. I’m looking forward to seeing him tomorrow."
