Sporting CP midfielder Manuel Ugarte's agent is optimistic that his client's future will be "resolved in 15 days" despite Liverpool and other Premier League teams' interest.
The Uruguayan international has had a standout couple of seasons in the Portuguese capital since his 2021 transfer from Famalicao. His performances haven't gone unnoticed; he played a key role in Sporting's victories over north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham this season.
Ugarte is regarded highly by a number of Premier League teams, including Liverpool, who have him on their shortlist of midfielders and are one of the clubs most interested in a trade, according to 90min.
While Newcastle, West Ham, and Wolves have recently kept an eye on Ugarte, Aston Villa is another fan.
Ugarte and his skills are much liked by many, but sources have told 90min that interested parties only consider him worth about £30 million, or about £20 million less than his current release clause.
Ugarte's agent, Jorge Chijane, has nonetheless stated to Portuguese publication O Jogo that the 22-year-old would probably leave Sporting this summer and that Jorge Mendes will assist broker a deal. He even expresses hope that a solution can be reached within the next few weeks.
Chijane predicted that he would quit, saying it was nearly a given. "I'll shortly be in Lisbon. I have faith in Jorge Mendes, the best businessperson in the world. In fact, he stated, "Your eyes are my eyes," when I first told him about Ugarte.
When specifically asked about Liverpool's interest, he responded, "There is a lot of discussion, but they are not the only team, there are others.
There has been a lot of discussion, but I'm still unsure of the club that Ugarte will join. There are numerous theories available. I think the matter will be handled in 15 days.
Additionally, according to 90min, Tottenham, who have observed many Sporting matches over the past 12 months and have purchased Pedro Porro and are still interested in Pedro Goncalves, likes Ugarte, but he is not thought to be at the top of their list of summer transfer targets.
