A girl was arrested for allegedly trying to kill her mother for money
The suspect fled after his efforts failed
Joyce Amoabeng, a 33-year-old woman has been arrested by the police for allegedly trying to kill her biological mother over a cash ceremony in Assin Fosu.
The suspect was arrested after he strangled his mother to torture her. Narrating the incident to GhanaWeb's Central Regional correspondent, the victim, Theresa Amoah, 59, said that at 10:30am the suspect burst into the house wearing a face mask and jalabiya and heattacked him.
He said the suspect covered hismouth and nose with a cloth and tried to kill him.
The victim said she gathered her strength and the suspect to scream for help from the residents. He said that a woman and a teenager, after hearing the noise, ran into the house,caught the suspect who was raping the victim and managed to save him.
Sensing the danger, the suspect ran away, but his jalabiya wasremoved in the process and locals identified him as Marfowaa, the daughter of the girl who had earlier told herfamily that she was on her wayto Accra. After a search by some of the villagers, they found the suspect's bag containing medical bandages, syringes and nyanya leaves which were allegedly used to perform the ritual.
