Liverpool 'step up interest in Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte'
Liverpool is reportedly increasing their interest in Sporting Lisbon's defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte. The 22-year-old has had an impressive season, featuring 45 times across all competitions and establishing himself as a key player for the Portuguese club. While Ugarte still has over three years remaining on his contract at Sporting Lisbon, speculation surrounding his future has been growing, with several top European clubs monitoring his progress.
According to recent reports, Liverpool has initiated talks with Sporting Lisbon regarding a potential transfer for Ugarte. However, Chelsea is also rumored to be considering hijacking Liverpool's pursuit of the midfielder. Tottenham Hotspur has also been linked with an interest in Ugarte. Portuguese news outlet Record, via the Liverpool Echo, claims that Liverpool has intensified their interest in the player and is preparing to make an initial offer ahead of the summer transfer window.
