Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos has been making headlines in the football world, especially after his impressive performance against Real Madrid in which he scored four goals for Girona. This feat made him the first player since 1947 to achieve such a feat against the Spanish giants.

Castellanos, who is currently on loan from New York City FC in La Liga, has been on the radar of Leeds United for a potential move to the Premier League.

Castellanos' impressive goal-scoring record in Europe has caught the attention of many clubs, including Leeds United, who have been struggling for goals in a difficult season. Leeds United has reportedly been leading the chase for his signature, and the expiration of his loan deal in a few weeks could give them the opportunity to make a move for him.

Castellanos, who won the MLS Golden Boot at New York City FC in 2021, has adapted well to life in European football. He has scored 14 goals in 33 games for Girona, who look well-placed to avoid relegation this season.

Despite interest from Leeds United, Castellanos has expressed his desire to stay in Europe and continue to prove himself in a different type of football. "The desire to stay in Europe. That’s my idea, honestly. I think I completed a cycle in MLS. (I) would like to keep proving myself in another type of football to keep growing personally. After (the season ends) we will see. But I’m really happy here," he said in an interview with MLS Soccer.

Castellanos' potential transfer fee is reportedly around £12 million, a figure that could be considered reasonable by Leeds United if they manage to avoid relegation this season. With their focus on bringing a reliable penalty-box presence to Elland Road, Castellanos could be the perfect fit for the team.

Leeds United faces Newcastle United in Saturday's early kick-off, and a win could take them closer to safety. However, with the end of the season approaching, the focus will quickly turn to potential signings, and Castellanos could be at the top of their wishlist.
