Raphael Varane will be fit and ready to play for Manchester United when they take on Wolves on Saturday in the Premier League, according to Erik ten Hag.
Following the 2-2 Europa League match with Sevilla in April, former France international Varane has been unable to play due to a foot injury. His absence was made worse by Lisandro Martinez's season-ending injury at the same time.
In recent weeks, Victor Lindelof has been added to the center of defense to pair with natural left back Luke Shaw.
Prior to Man Utd's game against Wolves, Ten Hag disclosed that striker Marcus Rashford had sustained a knock in addition to the good news of Varane's rehabilitation.
Rashford has an issue, an injury to his leg, therefore his performance tomorrow is quite uncertain, the man stated. But Varane's return makes us delighted.
"[Rashford] is more than a little dubious. Thus, there is a significant question mark.
Varane's return is welcome news for United, who have slid behind Newcastle in the race for a Champions League spot after losing back-to-back league games to Brighton and West Ham.
With three of their last four league games against teams currently in the bottom half, the Red Devils' schedule is kind, and they also have a game in hand on fifth-placed Liverpool, who are a point behind them.
Varane's limited participation in cup competitions has contributed to Man Utd drawing fewer games without him at the defense, but his experience was sorely needed at the end of the season.
In the second Sevilla leg, which resulted in a 3-0 loss, his presence would have been greatly beneficial. Meanwhile, in the defeats to Brighton and West Ham, cool heads were required but were not present.
However, United may now qualify for the Champions League thanks to Varane's return, which would free up Lindelof so Shaw could resume his natural position.
