Lionel Messi will start Paris St Germain's Ligue 1 home game against AC Ajaccio
Christophe Galtier confirmed on Friday that Lionel Messi would start in Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 home game against AC Ajaccio on Saturday. Messi had been suspended by the club for two weeks after making an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia and missing a training session. However, he returned to training on Monday and expressed his determination to play in the upcoming match.
PSG is currently leading Ligue 1 with six points clear of Lens and eight in front of Olympique de Marseille with four games remaining in the season. Messi's return to the team will require some adjustments in strategy, as Galtier acknowledged, stating, "With him in the team we'll have to adjust compared to what we did against Troyes. Leo is Leo. I'm not going to go into statistics but when he's with us we have to strike a different balance."
Despite much speculation about Messi's future at PSG, including reports of a formal offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, the player's focus is currently on winning the French title. Last Friday, Messi apologized to PSG and his teammates for his recent behavior and was left out of the squad for their 3-1 win at Troyes two days later.
PSG's season has been disappointing so far, with early eliminations from both the Champions League and the French Cup. The team has also struggled at home, losing three of their last four games. Lens will have the opportunity to move within three points of PSG if they win their upcoming match against Stade de Reims.
