Pep Guardiola 'can't comprehend' why Man City games are scheduled as they are.

Pep Guardiola claims he does not "understand" how Manchester City's games are scheduled, but he has given up trying to change it.

A little more than 72 hours before they take on Real Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final, Premier League leaders City play Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Real has an additional day of relaxation because they play Getafe in La Liga on Saturday.

"It is what it is," Guardiola stated.

He claimed that the fact that Liverpool is hosting the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday was one of the problems that led to their trip to Everton being played on Sunday.

"In the end, we can't play Saturday due to Eurovision or something similar in Liverpool, and we don't always have enough bodies to handle two major events," the Spaniard continued.

I won't fight it any longer even though I don't understand it.

"All right, you must adjust. What should I do? To allow for preparation, we'd prefer to play on Saturday, but it is what it is.

"I have no doubt that the Premier League wants to support the teams. They don't seem to cause discomfort, in my opinion.

Both the top and bottom of the Premier League depend on Sunday's trip to Merseyside, with City trying to keep their lead over Arsenal at the top and Everton fighting to stay up.

While a spot in the Champions League final is on the line next week, Guardiola insists the team's only attention is on taking on Sean Dyche's Toffees after City drew 1-1 with Real in the first leg of their semi-final on Tuesday.

He said, "My thought is just Everton, nothing more."

"I've been working for the Premier League for 11 months. Since we play on Sunday, we don't have much time to [prepare for] Madrid, but Goodison Park, it is a top priority.

After Everton, City will play home games against Chelsea and Brighton before finishing the season against their west London neighbors, Brentford.
