PGMOL wants to reduce confusion around controversial claims

Conversations between Premier League and VAR referees will be revealed for the first time this Monday with PGMOL chief Howard Webb to speak via audio, it has been confirmed.

As Mail Sport revealed last week, fans will get a glimpse behind the curtain.

Webb will appear on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football alongside Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher to explain the selection of key decisions from the 2022-23 season.

PGMOL wants to reduce the confusion surrounding the controversial calls, and if this one-off test is deemed successful, it is likely to release more frequent audio next season.

IFAB football lawmakers told Mail Sport they would have no problem with recordings being made public, as long as they are released after games and not broadcast live. PGMOL Director Howard Webb will speak via audio chat between the referee and VAR

Sky's Monday night football program will begin at 6.30pm to allow preparations for the regular Leicester vs Liverpool game ahead of the VAR discussion involving Webb.

That same evening, a half-hour test program called "Match Officials:

Mic'd Up' will be broadcast.

Selected incidents from the 2022-23 season will be introduced to educate supporters on how and why referees and VARs make different decisions.

Coincidentally, Webb will be appearing before a game featuring Liverpool, whose manager Jurgen Klopp recently clashed with his match officials.
