After Kevin De Bruyne's spectacular goal for Manchester City against Real Madrid, Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher have argued on where he rates among the greatest midfielders in football history.

With the score tied at 1-1 after the first leg in Spain, De Bruyne's thunderbolt in the second half brought City level with Real in the Champions League semifinal.

When Henry was a coach for the Belgian national team, he compared De Bruyne to the legendary Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Andres Iniesta, who were formerly De Bruyne's colleagues.

While speaking on CBS, Carragher complimented the Belgian and claimed that winning the Champions League will solidify his place among the all-time great midfielders.

After the first leg in Spain, the score was tied at 1-1, but De Bruyne's thunderbolt in the second half tied City and Real in the Champions League semifinal.

Henry compared De Bruyne to the renowned Barcelona midfielders Xavi and Andres Iniesta, who were formerly De Bruyne's coworkers, when he was coaching the Belgian national team.

Carragher praised the Belgian during his CBS interview and asserted that the midfielder's inclusion in the elite group of all-time midfielders will be cemented by winning the Champions League.

"In my opinion, Kevin has the best brain I've ever seen." Because of the way his brain works, I honestly don't always know what he is thinking about. Because you are not on his level when you look at him, it almost seems like he is not with us.

He is, in my opinion, the smartest player I have ever seen. He simply thinks in a way that is unmatched. I intermittently observed him for six years while playing for Belgium, and as a result, I have a slightly greater appreciation for the man.

He is an unbelievable perfectionist. I keep thinking about things I've seen, but they are just from another planet, Kevin, his brain.

Carragher, on the other hand, praised De Bruyne for his performance against Real and said that winning the Champions League would further enhance his standing in the game.

According to Carragher, "if he could be the man who takes them to the Champions League, the treble, it elevates him." 'We don't doubt his abilities, but we constantly evaluate players in the greatest tourname,'

Because he has won the Ballon d'Or, five European championships, and participated in the World Cup final, Luka Modric is the player I compared to before the game. If they make it to the final, Kevin, we're talking about one of the best midfielders ever, not just one of the best of his generation.

I've been watching football for 30 or 40 years, and I don't think I've ever seen many finer performances. There may not be a finer passer than him, but he only needs to win the Champions League. He must possess it and play the role of the man who is an essential component.

"Then he can join Iniesta, Xavi, and Modric right up there,"

Micah Richards questioned Steven Gerrard, a legendary Liverpool teammate of Carragher, if De Bruyne was superior to him.

Stevie has that Istanbul moment right now, so not right now, Carragher added. "There is nothing in it to say that Gerrard was significantly superior to De Bruyne," I said. It would divide a discussion.

But Steven has that Istanbul moment, which is what he has. Even though it was only one game, that particular moment will always stick in your mind whenever you think about Steven Gerrard.

"We still haven't found that one instance of Kevin De Bruyne performing at his peak." This year might be the one
