This year, the 18-year-old has played in five Premier League games.

In the last weeks of the season, Frank Lampard will try to give Lewis Hall, a teenager, an opportunity to play for Chelsea's first team.

This season, the academy product has played in five Premier League games, all during the injury crisis that afflicted then-manager Graham Potter's team in the weeks leading up to the World Cup.

He started the goalless draw with Liverpool at Anfield two weeks after being used as an emergency left-back during the 4-0 FA Cup loss to Manchester City. Since then, he has not received another opportunity to play.

Reece James and Mason Mount are out for the season, and Ben Chilwell, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Marc Cucurella are all unavailable for Saturday's game against Nottingham Forest. Lampard, who did not manage the 18-year-old during his first stint as Chelsea manager, is once again left without key players.

Hall is more likely to play in Chelsea's final four games after the interim manager added that England Under-20 coach Ian Foster will not be able to choose him for the forthcoming World Cup in Argentina.

Lewis has a shot, according to Lampard. "I was inclined to start him last week (in the 3-1 victory against Bournemouth), but the nature of the match and Caesar Azpilicueta's experience was more appropriate at that time. I'll judge this game on its own terms as well, but his preparation has truly impressed me.

He is a very talented player and very good. If anything, I believe he needs to let a little more of himself out since he should genuinely believe in his abilities and feel comfortable around the group.

"In games I've watched from a distance, Lewis hasn't dimmed that at all. I didn't get to work with Lewis before, he was a bit younger. He is a candidate to play in the upcoming four games.

During the stretch run, Chelsea has an opportunity to influence the results of teams at both ends of the table, beginning with Steve Cooper's Forest's visit to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

It will help his previous team Everton's chances of avoiding relegation if Lampard can lead the squad to its first home victory since early March. The two relegation-battlers are separated by just one point and are both just outside the bottom three.
