According to the PA news agency, Nagelsmann won't be given the opportunity to interview for the manager position at Tottenham.

On a pivotal day in the hunt for Antonio Conte's replacement, Ryan Mason reaffirmed his readiness to lead Tottenham after Julian Nagelsmann was eliminated from the running.

Since his unexpected departure from Bayern Munich at the end of March, Nagelsmann has been frequently mentioned in connection with the position.

The 35-year-old was a candidate for the Spurs position in 2021 before Bayern stepped in.

It was expected that Nagelsmann would again be in the race for the vacant position at the Premier League club after Conte left Tottenham soon after the German coach's stunning departure from the Bundesliga champions.

Since then, rumors have continued, but the PA news agency has learned that despite Tottenham's admiration for Nagelsmann, they will not meet with him or conduct an interview for the position and that he is not a candidate.

Eddie Howe, who accepted the Bournemouth position at the same age of 31, served as Mason's inspiration and is still the man in charge as interim head coach as of Friday.

Mason claimed, "I've always said I'm ready," prior to the trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.

"I'm prepared for this situation. I believe I can benefit the club. That's how I generally feel, and I'll stick with it. That is how I have been feeling ever since the club gave me this task.

Naturally, you brought up Eddie Howe, who is a fantastic manager. He serves as an example.

"Gary O'Neil is one who is probably not mentioned very often, in my opinion. A young English manager and his first job, the work he did (at Bournemouth) has mostly gone unnoticed.

Mason's first success during his second spell as Tottenham's interim manager came last weekend, when the team defeated Crystal Palace 1-0.

The former Spurs midfielder was accused of showing favoritism to his former team-mates during his first stint in 2021, where he won four of his six Premier League games.
