The Cottagers are still on track to finish this season with the most top-flight points ever.
Marco Silva indicated that before starting negotiations for a new contract, which would be due to expire at the end of the upcoming season, he would have assurance that Fulham share his aspirations.
The Cottagers are still on course to finish this season with the most top-flight points ever; two victories from their next three games would set a new record.
Since taking over at Craven Cottage in 2021, after the team was demoted to the Sky Bet Championship, Silva's reputation has dramatically increased. Under his leadership, the squad was promoted back to the Premier League at the first opportunity, and a comfortable mid-table finish was guaranteed.
They had momentarily appeared to be a serious contender for Europe with a 1-0 victory at Brighton in February, but they have since slipped after winning only three league games in a row, a streak that partly coincided with the loss of leading scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic to an eight-game suspension.
Mitrovic will make a comeback for Fulham's trip to Southampton on Saturday as they look to finish a remarkable season.
Silva was questioned about whether he would need to leave the club in order to reach his potential or try to breach the league's glass ceiling given the resource gap as a barrier to breaking into the top seven.
As a manager, Silva said, "I always try to perform better the following season if I accomplish something in the current one. "It is obvious that sometimes having high expectations can work against you.
"My approach to the game of football is to constantly attempt to do something new, to get better at every area of it, and to play the game better. Naturally, as your performance improves, you start to get various results and work to make them even better.
