It was "premature," according to Tottenham's interim head coach, for Harry Kane to have a monument just yet.
Ryan Mason thinks Harry Kane is correct to point out the principles Tottenham has lost in recent years.
With dreams of finishing in the top four long gone, Spurs head to eighth-placed Aston Villa on Saturday knowing that a win will almost certainly guarantee them a spot in the Europa Conference League next season.
It is a great cry from Tottenham's best years, when they were a national powerhouse and frequently competed in the Champions League, under Mauricio Pochettino.
With only one year remaining on his contract, Kane has participated in several interviews over the past week where he has discussed how the club has lost the values it had under Pochettino and how he is determined to restore a strong culture and environment.
When questioned about Kane's remarks, Spurs interim head coach Mason answered, "Yep, absolutely, I am fully with him on that 100 per cent."
"We may talk a lot about the players, but I believe that the environment and culture, as well as the little things, are equally important. That needs to be driven by many people, not just one or two. It must be internally motivated.
"I concur with him because I was probably a part of the transition that established new norms and a new culture within this organization.
"Though it can take years to establish something, it also doesn't take long to lose it.
"Fortunately for us, there are still a lot of wonderful individuals inside these walls who understand what goodness feels like and, maybe more crucially, desire. We make every effort to achieve it.
"It's imperative that everyone who enters this room is working toward the same goals and is pulling in the same direction. That, in my opinion, also applies to every single football team.
