The Gunners, who have played one more game than Manchester City, are trailing by one point going into the weekend.

Mikel Arteta has urged his Arsenal teammates to put discussions about their future on hold and concentrate instead on their bid for the Premier League championship.

The Gunners enter the weekend one point behind league leaders Manchester City despite having played one extra game and hosting Brighton on Sunday.

Despite Arteta's team being in excellent form this season, there are still a number of problems that need to be resolved before the summer.

While Reiss Nelson is out of contract and Granit Xhaka has this week been linked with a move return to Germany, the English duo of Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka are reportedly close to signing new contracts.

But Arteta dismissed concerns on Friday about the future of some of his key players and is eager for attention to remain completely on the fight for a first league championship in 19 years.

Regarding potential player deals, he said: "Obviously, where we are with each individual is probably different in terms of timing, but the clarity is there."

"We have explained to everyone of them what our aims are, and we are working as swiftly as we can while still respecting and keeping our attention on what is happening right now.

"We will announce anything regarding any individual as a club, like we always do, as soon as it is necessary. Now is not the time to discuss that.

Nelson might yet be allowed to depart for free in the summer even though the contracts for Saka and Ramsdale are almost complete.

Arteta declined to comment on the future of the Switzerland captain, Xhaka, despite reports that Bayer Leverkusen is vying for his signature.

"As you can understand, I'm not going to be replying to certain stories," he continued.

"I'm incredibly happy with Granit; I think this is by far his best season at the club, and we are thrilled to have him," said the coach.
