A Ghanaian young man seeking a job after tertiary shares his sad story of how his uncle rejected a job offer after he sent his CV there and requested to see the manager in charge since it was his uncle. According to the gentleman identified on the microblogging platform Twitter as @MisterElikem, he saw someone with his mother’s brother a happy birthday on his status, and the picture for the wish was a business flyer consisting of the name of his uncle and his position at the workplace and added that that particular company was one he was willing to work for after National Service so he was excited seeing his uncle hold such a position there, little did he know this will turn out to be one of the mistakes if his life, he added. Read his narration below;
“This will be my biggest regret and mistake!!!! Heh!!!!
So I saw someone with my mother's brother happy birthday on his status. It was like a poster with his picture, name, and company logo on it the good thing was, the company was one of the companies I’ve been meaning to work at after NSS
When I saw the poster, I was excited!!! I was like, finally!!!!
Because this man is the Corporate Director, Finance and Accounts. I went to Accra today for a program and I was like, why not print your CV and drop it at a few companies After the program, I went to my uncle's workplace, I dropped my CV, and went out When I was going, I was like, stop being prideful and a coward and go and look for your uncle. So I gathered my courage, went back and told the receptionist I’m looking for Mr. A.C. She said he is there called his office and told him, one Elikem is looking for him, he was like which Elikem. I told the receptionist, to say Mansa’s son and he went on to ask, which Mansa, then I asked the receptionist to say Mansa A.G’s son.
I saw The receptionist drop the phone and asked if I had his number, I said yes and she said I should call him I called this man, greeted him, and introduced myself The first question he asked was, “What are you doing here?? How did you find this place??” I said I saw his name on the company’s website. He was like which website?? He was sounding all rude as if I was coming to beg him for money I got pissed and replied to him “It’s okay, it’s okay” and ended the call on him I’ve never been this pissed in my life. I am so pissed at myself… I hate ahushish3 and asking for help but these past few months I decided to just give it a try because I can’t just be home and be Doing side jobs and 2 monthly contracts. After what I’ve experienced today, I’m not sure I’ll ask anyone for help…
I’ve never been this embarrassed in my life!!!
Heh!!!!!!!!!!! My mother is hurt more than myself, she said I should forget him but I said he is an Adisco boy, I’m an Adisco, 3b3fa I came back to narrate everything to her and she was hurt, very hurt!!! I should have listened!!!”.
His post triggered a whole lot of reactions with some users sharing similar experiences and others encouraging him to keep moving.

“This is me, my uncle's a regional head of the FDA. I
went to his office but couldn't meet him so made a
call him, told him why I was there and he was
like I should drop my cv and he would ask them to
process it”.

“Hm. Reason why I never fw extended families. Friends have held me down more than step-siblings and uncles. Blood is thicker than water
yeah, but love is always thicker than blood. Sorry
man”.

“Tbh you weren't humble yourself You need the job not him. Cutting the call out of pride probably ruined your
chances of working there. Also just because you're his nephew doesn't mean you'd be given the job automatically”.

“haha. Sorry man. Had a similar experience. Begged
one to work for his company for my IT at some point. He keeps promising people, and never really helps. Until poverty sat me down on a Saturday morning, I then decided to start programming. learned everyone is alone”.
