NDC primaries: Terlabi and DrBaah face off in the NDC primaries in Lower Manya Krobo
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is currently voting to elect its parliamentary and presidential candidate for the 2024 general election.
As he seeks to regain power, one of the constituencies that has attracted attention in the Eastern region is Lower Manya Kobo, where the MP representing Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi faces a tough competition from the health and education minister Korle - is. Hospital and the former secretary of the Ghana Medical Association in the Greater Accra Region, Dr Winfred Baah, who participated for the first time. A confident Mr Terlabi who is sure to win said he willwin more than 1,200 of the 1,400 delegates expected to vote today.
According to him, the delegates are aware of his greatcommitment and commitmentto the party and constituencyover the years. An equally confident Dr Baah said he would win the election at the end of the race later today.
His confidence, he explained, is based on many calls from representatives and loyalists tothe party to stand in the legislative elections, adding that the representatives bought his policies. More than 1,400 delegates will choose one of the four candidates, the other two being John Kenneth Tedd-Tetteh and Miss Kekeli Adanuvor.
Voting process
Although many delegates started arriving there at 6 am,the program did not start at the advertised 7 am. The Electoral Officer of Lower Manya Krobo District, Mr. Jonathan Okine,said the start of the process which was supposed to be at7am was postponed to 9am based on the instructions he received from the House. his local work last night.
The Chairman of the Constituency Party, Mr. John Matey, told GhanaWeb that the party is ready for the electionas all documents for this havebeen received. Although times have changed, some representatives who spoke to GhanaWeb said the change did not bother them.
Samuel Narh and Quarshie Padi, representatives of Asitey, said that the party's interest was the most important factor for anyone who won the election,adding that they were ready to support the winner. 33 police officers from the Odumase Police Command of the District Commander, SuperintendentDoris Akua Grant and the FPU rushed to the scene.
Voting is currently underway.
