NDC Flag Bearer Race: It willnot be a hot race, Mahama will win - John Dumelo

Award-winning actor John Dumelo says the race for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential nominationbetween John Mahama and Kojo Bonsu will not be tough.

According to a former member of parliament from Ayawso West Wuogon constituency, the representatives have already declared the former president as the winner of the flag race. "No, it cannot be a heated contest between John Mahama and Kojo Bonsu. I mean the former president will win hands down. "What I want is that at least he wins more than 95% that's what the representatives say and that's what I believe too.

Speaking in an interview with JoyNews on Saturday, Mr Dumelo stressed that he doubts the people will vote against the former president, but is optimistic that Mr Mahama willget highest vote in his district. "...I doubt that anyone will vote against the former president, but of course it's a democracy, you're going to have people against him for a reason, and there are I hope and pray that Awayaso West Wuogon, the former president will get at least 95. % Here."

Speaking about the withdrawal of
Dr Kwabena Duffour from the presidential race, the actor turned politician said he was surprised to hear that.

On Friday, May 12, Dr. Kwabena Duffour officially withdrewfrom the upcoming NDC Flag Bearer contest. While speaking to a journalist, the former governor of the Bank of Ghana said his decision was based on his displeasure over the processsurrounding the party'supcoming primaries; includingthe voter register.

He explained that the exercise was many things wrong; the position of the party leadershas not been resolved. In this context, John Dumelo said it is a democracy to see candidates leave the race during elections.

“Yes and no, I mean, in a democracy, you have candidates who go down at some point. In the past four years, Kojo Bonsu retired while racing.

"This year,
one of them is coming down and now Dr Duffour was coming down yesterday, so it's no surprisethat he pulled out at the last minute," he said.
