Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign RB Leipzig star Mohamed Simakan this summer - and he has proven why he is the perfect fit for Mikel Arteta's side.
According to The Guardian's Ed Aarons, the Gunners have "particular interest" in the 23-year-old defender, who mainly plays at centre-back.
However, it is added that the Frenchman has signed a new contract with RB Leipzig that runs until 2027 in December, meaning the German club will likely have to pay a hefty fee to sell him. ta.
Simakan has made 21 appearances for Leipzig in the Bundesliga this season, mostly playing on the right flank of a three-man defense or right-back.

He will become Arsenal's second defensive signing in 2023 if he joins the club, with Jakub Kiwior arriving from Spezia in January. Kiwior's versatility was one of the reasons the Gunners decided to sign him for around £21m, the Poland international who can also play at left-back and in defensive midfield.
And it's Simakan's versatility that can make him a great addition to the team.

Simakan proves himself for Arsenal
Simakan's ability to play on the right wing of a central defense means he will be competing with William Saliba for a spot in the Arsenal XI, when the France international is available.
But he can also play at right-back if needed - and his qualities, coupled with Arteta's defensive style, could help him thrive at Emirates Stadium.
The right-back position is currently taken by Ben White, who played as a central defender under the Spaniard before a tactical change at the start of the season. Advertisement
The addition of Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal's squad this summer and his attacking style means that when he comes up to assist in attack, White is often on the bench and forms a back three.
Given that Simakan can play comfortably in the center and right of defence, signing him certainly makes sense for Arteta - and at 23, he has his best years ahead of him.
His market value, according to Transfermarkt, is €28m, and the nearby fee would certainly prove good value for Arsenal if Simakan can continue to make the same impact as White has had at alongside his new role this season.
