The video has emerged showing former Chelsea captain Frank Lampard saving Cristiano Ronaldo from being sent off during the Portuguese's first time with Manchester United.
The two clubs were fierce Premier League competitors for most of the 2000s, with either club winning seven consecutive seasons between 2005 and 2011.
Lampard and Ronaldo are two of the most skilled players in the league as their clubs battle for the title. They even faced each other in the 2008 Champions League final, both players scoring before the Reds' final victory on penalties.
However, the meeting at Old Trafford between the two clubs in 2009, which United won 3-0 on their way to the Premier League title, saw a rare moment of morale. sport between two players. Advertisement
Ronaldo was shown a yellow card when he accidentally jerked Lampard's heel during a challenge. This prompted referee Howard Webb to reach into his pocket for a second yellow card before the Blues captain stepped in and ordered the referee to do nothing.
The clip of Frank Lampard preventing Cristiano Ronaldo from receiving a second yellow card shows how much football has changed.

Since then, Lampard has won another Premier League title as a Chelsea player in the 2009/10 season before moving to Manchester City and New York City FC. The 44-year-old is currently in his second term as caretaker manager of the Blues after leading Derby County and Everton. As for Ronaldo, the 38-year-old eventually joined Real Madrid that summer but returned to Old Trafford in 2021 for a second and a half year. The Portuguese has since joined Saudi side Al Nassr.
In fact, Ronaldo started Lampard's side against Everton last season as the Toffees beat United 1-0 at Goodison Park.
