Polling stalled in Ningo-Prampram as confusion arose and tensions rose
Tensions are rising in the Ningo-Prampram constituency, withsome representatives insistingthat the vote will end outstanding concerns over the voting process.
About 16 representatives from the camp of candidate Michael Kwetey Tetteh, whose names were not previously on the list of those eligible to vote, obtained a court order to vote. The court order that allows these leaders to vote according to these representatives, members of the Sam Georgecamp will challenge that they were not part of the list in the first place.
This caused a conflict betweenthese representatives andthose in Michael's camp, insisting that the voting process will not continue without the right for these 16 people to vote. Some of the representatives who spoke to GhanaWeb said:
"When they went to court, the court ordered them to vote and today we are here, Sam George did not want them to vote, theyare all members of the NDC,and Sam George is trying to prevent them from voting and that is what we say that without their vote, the vote will not go ahead. They need to go back, fixthe problem and go back to the polls. "
Another representative added; "They swore to them as leaders that if they were leaders, they would vote. Sam George would not let them vote because Michael's strong point was there. If they don't allow them to vote, the election won't happen, they won't count any votes.
"They served the CE, the police, party leaders, regional and national. Being the regional coordinator where I serve, I am part of the court summons, ifthe president is not present , I would be the best person to run for president,” said another. Earlier, some representatives from the Michael Kwetey Tetteh camp alleged that some members of the Sam Georgecamp whose names were not on the list were allowed to vote.
Angry representatives said the incumbent MP was trying to manipulate the election to his advantage. They said he wanted non-members to vote, undermining the integrity of the system.
