Manchester United contractor Jim Ratcliffe is said to be considering a move by former Chelsea manager Graham Potter to take over French side OGC Nice, the club the British billionaire currently owns.

Billionaire Ineos is currently leading the hunt for the Red Devils after submitting his final offer to the club at the end of April.

Nice parted ways with coach Lucien Favre in January and handed temporary power to reserve coach Didier Digard before being appointed permanently.

According to Nice-Matin, Ratcliffe's countryman Potter was shortlisted for the role after being sacked by Chelsea last month. The 47-year-old joined Brighton in October but failed to make the impact he wanted as the Blues struggled to score regularly and then looked set to go into the semi-finals poorly.

However, the work done by the England international at Sussex should be credited with the Seagulls reaching the semi-finals of the Premier League for the first time last season while trying to cement themselves as a leading club. has made a name for itself since Potter's appointment in 2019.

The 47-year-old also enjoyed a successful spell in Sweden with the Ostersunds and helped Swansea City take the lead despite having little backing.

In the current high-level football environment in France, winning the title against Paris Saint-Germain is no small feat. That is also something that Nice has not done since 1959 with the most likely goal of bringing the French team to the Champions League. This season has shown that Ligue 1 success is possible for smaller teams with Lens being the perfect example. Just promoted from the French second division in 2020 but are currently second in the group and have secured a place in the European Cup for the next term.
