15 goals have been scored by the Uruguayan international in his rookie season.
Darwin Nunez would have scored many more goals, according to Jurgen Klopp, if Liverpool had done better this season.
The Uruguayan international has 15 goals in his first season after being acquired from Benfica in the summer for a potential club record 84 million.
The 23-year-old has scored just one goal in his past 11 games, but with almost all of Klopp's first-choice forwards back in the lineup, he has recently struggled to maintain his spot in the team. He has started just five of those games.
But Klopp insisted that the team, not the player, was to blame for the failure, noting that the team had a history of extreme inconsistency prior to their current run of six victories.
There will be a great deal more. That is obvious. The Liverpool manager stated that he needs time to adjust.
"For a striker, joining a team that is having trouble performing is the hardest thing to do.
"He would have scored more goals without a doubt if we had played for us for an 80-point or more season.
"But it seems like each scenario we created and then failed to handle has increased the pressure level.
"Mo Salah squandered opportunities during his greatest season, when he scored about 40 goals. That is typical. Erling Haaland dropped opportunities. However, they had considerably more than we had throughout this time.
"Fifteen goals is quite acceptable. There are still three games left, so he may be able to raise that total as well.
He had time to adjust at Benfica and faced fewer or no language barriers than there are now. We made an effort to assist him so that he could aid us even more than before.
