For Munich, Serge Gnabry scored twice as they defeated Schalke 6-0.

With convincing victories against Schalke and Borussia Monchengladbach, respectively, on Saturday, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund resumed their competition for the Bundesliga championship.

Leaders After smashing Schalke 6-0 at the Allianz Arena, Bayern, who lead the league by one point, remain the favorites. Serge Gnabry scored twice for Bayern.

The Bavarians also had points from Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, Mathys Tel, and Noussair Mazraoui.

Dortmund kept up the battle by thrashing Monchengladbach 5-2 at home.

They quickly took the lead after Donyell Malen pounced, Jude Bellingham added a penalty, and Sebastian Haller scored twice. After Gladbach scored two goals back on penalties from Ramy Bensebaini and Lars Stindl, Gio Reyna completed the scoring.

Union Berlin defeated fellow European contenders Freiburg 4-2 to climb up to third place.

With Lionel Messi returning from his previous suspension, Paris St. Germain moved closer to winning the Ligue 1 title with a thrashing 5-0 victory over Ajaccio.

After goals from Fabian Ruiz and Achraf Hakimi gave PSG the lead, Kylian Mbappe scored twice. Mohamed Youssouf's own goal brought the score to 3-0, however both teams finished the game with 10 men due to late dismissals of Hakimi and Thomas Mangani.

With three games left, the win put PSG six points ahead of Lens in second place.

In Italy, AC Milan's chances of finishing in the top four were dashed when they were defeated 2-0 by relegation-threatened Spezia.

Przemyslaw Wisniewski scored the game's first goal after 75 minutes, and Salvatore Esposito added a free-kick 10 minutes later. Both goals came in the waning moments.

Prior to the second leg of their Champions League semifinal against city rivals Inter, in which they are down 2-0, Milan was left in fifth place, four points behind Lazio in fourth place.

Meanwhile, Inter improved to third after defeating Sassuolo 4-2.

In the 89th minute, Romelu Lukaku scored his second goal to seal the victory after Sassuolo had reduced the score to 3-2 through Matheus Henrique and Davide Frattesi, setting up an exciting conclusion.
