8 WERE ARRESTED FOR VARIOUS OFFENSES DURING THE NDC PRIMARIES

The police said they have arrested eight people acrossthe country for various election-related crimes and public disturbances during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential and parliamentary elections held on Saturday, April 13.

Yaro Burdove, Harrison Martey, Imoro Ibrahim, Arkoli Mensah, Nyarko Richard, Prince Lomotey, Hamidu Dramani and Bejando Emmanuel were arrested at their various polling stations in four districts, the police said. Police say the suspect Yaro Burdove was arrested during the Ningo Prampram constituency election for taking pictures of his ballot paper at the polling station.

He is also accused of trying to take pictures of other voters. In addition, Harrison Martey and Imoro Ibrahim were arrested for their involvement in an illegal attack at a polling station in the same area.

The suspects
 Arkoli Mensah and Nyarko Richard were arrested for disturbing the peace by engaging in illegal fighting at the polling stationduring the election in New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region. InMfantseman County in the Central Region, Prince Lomotey was arrested at the polling station for impersonation.


At
 a polling station in Atebubu-Amantin area of ​​Bono East region, Hamidu Dramani and Bejando Emmanuel were arrested on suspicion of incitingviolence. Five of the suspects are currently on bail pending police investigations, while three others are in custody to assist with ongoing police investigations.

Meanwhile, the attention of the police department was drawn to a viral video of MadameJuliana Kinang-Wassan, one of the aspirant MPs from Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, throwing money at peopleduring elections hand in Ejura Sekyedumase, Ashanti region.
